Module 03 - Availability

Know who can play. Before you have to ask.

Availability is answered in the app, per fixture, by the player or by their parent, and the coach reads it as one picture rather than forty replies.

What it does

Turns chasing into reading

Every club runs some version of this already, usually a message on a Wednesday and a count-up on a Friday. The count is the part that costs time, and it is the part that is wrong most often, because replies arrive in three places and one person forgot to answer at all.

Athra puts the question on the fixture and keeps the answers with it. The coach opens the fixture and sees where the squad stands. Selection then reads the same answers, so nobody re-enters anything.

Who it serves

Clubs and schools, the same way

Clubs

Junior sides where parents answer

In an age grade the useful answer comes from the family. A parent replies for their own child from their own account, and the coach gets a squad picture rather than a thread.

  • Age grades
  • Parent accounts

Schools

Squads that change week to week

School sport moves around exams, trips and other commitments. Asking per fixture is the only version of the question that survives that.

  • Per fixture
  • Term time

Answer

One question, per fixture

Availability is answered against a specific match rather than a general sense of who usually turns up. A player who can play in a fortnight and not this week can say exactly that.

  • Per fixture
  • Per player

Read

The whole squad on one screen

The fixture availability screen shows the answers together, so the coach knows the number before they start picking rather than after.

  • Squad view

Permissions

Only the roles that run it

Managing availability requests is held to the owner, the head coach, the assistant coach and an admin granted that permission. It is not open to the whole club because it does not need to be.

  • Owner
  • Head coach
  • Assistant coach
  • Granted admins

Families

A parent can answer for their child

For a junior side the answer usually comes from a parent, and it comes through their own account, against their own child.

  • Guardian answers

Availability does not care what sport it is. The one thing worth flagging is the permission shape: the roles that can run availability requests are a deliberately narrow set, so if your physio or a particular admin needs that screen, it is a permission to grant rather than something everyone has by default.
