The volunteer coach on a Thursday night
Selection is the job that eats a coach's week. Doing it in one place, from real answers, is the difference between twenty minutes and two evenings of messages.

Module 02 - Selection
The selection board turns availability answers into a picked squad, and the team sheet publishes it to the people who need it.
What it does
Selection sits between two things the club already has: the fixture, and the answers to who can play. The board puts them together on one screen so the coach picks against reality rather than against a squad list that has not been true since September.
The picked squad then has somewhere to live. It becomes the team sheet for that fixture, and it feeds the match record afterwards, which is where minutes and anything that happened on the day get written down.
Who it serves
Clubs
Selection is the job that eats a coach's week. Doing it in one place, from real answers, is the difference between twenty minutes and two evenings of messages.
Schools
A member of staff running more than one squad picks each one against its own fixture and its own availability, without holding the whole programme in their head.
Capabilities
Board
The selection board opens against a fixture and reads the availability answers already in, so the squad is built from the people who said yes rather than from a full club list.
Depth
Each team carries its own depth chart, so the coach picking on Thursday is not starting from a blank page every week.
Publish
Once the squad is picked, the team sheet is the published version. One list, in the app, rather than a photograph of a whiteboard forwarded four times.
Players
A player opens their own selection for a fixture and sees whether they are in. They do not need to read a full squad list to find their own name.
The honest line on this one: selection knows rugby and netball today. Each sport has its own board and its own squad depth screen, because a rugby pack and a netball court are not the same problem. Other sports are a build, not a setting, and we would rather say that than imply a board exists that does not.
Founding clubs
Fifteen minutes, with the person building it. Bring a fixture and a set of players and we will run a selection through it.
