Safeguarding

Enforced by the software. Not written in a policy and hoped for.

This page is the whole posture, in plain terms, for a parent deciding whether to trust it and for the person at the club whose job it is to check.

If you are a parent

What you can see, and what you cannot

Your account shows your own children. Their fixtures, whether they were selected, the minutes they played, anything recorded about an injury, and where they stand on subs. You can answer availability for them, and you can read the thread between your family and their coach.

You cannot see another family's child. Not their minutes, not their injuries, not their subs, not their thread. That is not a setting somebody at the club remembered to switch on. It is the way the record is reached: the app checks which children you are the guardian of, every time you open one.

The same rule runs the other way. Other parents cannot see your child, and people at the club see what their role allows and no more.

The controls

Seven things you can hold us to

Every item here is true of the app today. If one of them stops being true, this page changes.

Per-record access

A parent opens their own child and no one else's

Access is checked against the guardian link at the moment of the request, not filtered out of a list afterwards. A parent who is sent a link to another family's child does not get that child's record.

  • Checked per request
  • Own children only

Guardian linkage

A child's account is attached to their adults

Children are held through their guardians. A guardian is invited to the child, accepts, and from that point the link is what grants them the record. It can be extended to a second trusted adult the same way.

  • Invite and accept
  • More than one guardian

Under 13

A child under 13 does not hold their own login

There is no sign-in for the youngest age grades. Their record exists, their availability gets answered and their minutes get recorded, and all of it happens through the adults linked to them.

  • No child sign-in

13 to 17

A guardian is mandatory, not encouraged

Where a 13 to 17 year old does hold their own sign-in and safeguarding enforcement is on, the app will not let them past the guardian step until a guardian is on their record. It is a gate, not a reminder.

  • Blocking gate
  • Guardian required

Messaging

One shared family thread

A conversation about a player sits on that player's thread, which their coach and their own family both open. There is no private one-to-one channel between an adult at the club and a child.

  • Per player
  • Family can see it

Injury records

Injuries and HIA are held to a tier

Injury and head injury assessment records are reachable by the roles that need them, the club owner, the coaches, the physio and an admin explicitly granted it, and by that player's own family. They are not a club-wide read.

  • Named roles
  • Own family

Accounts

Email addresses are verified

A new account must verify its email address before it can reach anything beyond its own profile. An unverified account is not a way into a club.

  • Verified before entry

If you are a welfare officer

What you can actually check

The useful question about any club platform is not whether it has a safeguarding page. It is whether the restrictions are enforced by the system or by everybody remembering. Here is what to test on a walkthrough, and we will run all of it with you.

  • Sign in as a parent and try to open a child you are not the guardian of. You should not reach the record.
  • Ask what happens to a 13 to 17 year old with no guardian on file. With enforcement on, they should be held at the guardian step.
  • Ask who can open an injury or a head injury assessment, then check that a role outside that set cannot.
  • Look at a family thread from both sides and confirm the family sees what the coach sees.
  • Ask how a parent joins. A parent who signs themselves up waits in a pending state until somebody at the club approves them.

Safeguarding enforcement is a club-level setting, so it is worth agreeing at onboarding that it is on, along with who holds the approvals and who is granted which admin permissions. Those are decisions with names attached, which is the point.

Named safeguarding contact

Max is Athra's named safeguarding contact. Report a concern, a piece of content, or a child safety issue to safeguarding@athrasports.com.

Takedown and authority reporting

Content that sexualises, exploits or endangers a child is prohibited absolutely, with zero tolerance. We aim to review and remove content reported to us on this basis within 24 hours of the report reaching safeguarding@athrasports.com. Where a report is confirmed as child sexual abuse material, or otherwise requires it by law, we refer it to the relevant law enforcement or child protection authority.

Privacy and account questions that are not a safety concern go to privacy@athrasports.com instead.

What this does not claim

Software controls access to records. It does not supervise a training session, run your recruitment checks, or replace your club's safeguarding policy and the people responsible for it. What it can do is make sure that the information you hold about children is reachable by the people who should reach it and nobody else, which is the part a policy document cannot enforce on its own.

If you find something on this page that does not match what the app does, tell us and we will fix whichever of the two is wrong.
